How The Catch works
The Catch is a permanent record of checked public claims. Each record shows what was said, what the source says, and what changed.
Anatomy of a record
- A proposition stated in plain language.
- The event and speaker that put it into the record.
- Evidence with source type, provenance, and quoted location.
- A dated status that can be corrected or pulled, never silently replaced.
Status

| ✓ | Supported | The checked proposition is supported by the cited record. |
| ↻ | Corrected | New wording is shown alongside the original, with the change dated. |
| ✕ | Pulled | The claim body is withdrawn; the dated record remains content-free. |
| — | Unavailable | A serving refusal returns a generic 503 page rather than stale material. |
Sources stay visible
Quoted text stays attached to its source and location.
First-hand records and reporting are tagged distinctly.
A claimant's wording is retained when the record checks it.
Corrections stay visible
A correction adds a dated entry rather than overwriting history.
A withdrawal leaves a public, content-free tombstone.
Record history
Every claim page grows a permanent dated history section the moment a correction or challenge is recorded.
